WILMINGTON — Leonard M. Krol, age 99, of Buffalo, NY, a resident of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully January 1, 2026. Born on May 28, 1926 in Buffalo, NY to the late Walter Krol and Agnes Trzebiatowski. He lived a century. A man of remarkable character and dedication, Leonard left a legacy of love and perseverance that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Leonard honorably served his country as a proud US Navy and World War II veteran. His dedication to duty and his unwavering patriotism were evident throughout his lifetime.

An accomplished entrepreneur, Leonard was the founder of Suburban Lock and Key. With a commitment to quality and service, he built a business that became a pillar in its community, influencing the lives of countless employees who were like family to him.

As a founding parishioner of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, Leonard was an active member of his faith community. He served with devotion as a member of the Knights of St. John, embodying the principles of courage, justice, and charity.

In professional circles, Leonard was a respected member and officer of the Greater Buffalo Locksmiths Association and the National Locksmiths of America. His passion for his craft and commitment to excellence earned him the admiration of colleagues and peers alike.

Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Frances (Dziuba), his siblings Teresa (Raymond) Sojka, Henry (Marie) Krol, and his grandson Gregory Krol. He is survived by his loving children: David (Marcy) Krol, Ann (Wylie) Hair, Barbara (Robert) Tesmer, and Robert (Jody) Krol. His memory will further live on through his cherished grandchildren: Kim DeSeve, Patrick (Rachel) Tesmer, Lauren (Jared) Kirk, Michele (Aaron) Gardner, Dionne (Phil) Kress, and Janine Dougher, alongside eight beloved great-grandchildren, as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Leonard during his time as a resident.

A graveside service honoring Leonard’s life will be held in June at Spring Hill Cemetery in Laceyville, PA, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Frances. Leonard’s presence will be greatly missed, but his spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those he touched.
