WILMINGTON — Carolyn Ann Gardiner, aged 84, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Wilmington, NC. Born on June 30, 1941, in Jersey City, NJ, Carolyn led a life rich with hard work, love, and devotion.
A dedicated server waitress at various restaurants throughout her career, Carolyn took pride in her work and the connections she made with those around her. Her dedication and warmth left an indelible mark on both colleagues and patrons alike.
Though Carolyn spent much of her life in New York, where she built memories and friendships, she chose to retire to Wilmington, NC, in 2008. This new chapter brought her peace and joy, allowing her to savor the coastal beauty and tranquility that Wilmington offered.
Carolyn’s faith was a pillar in her life. Of the Catholic Faith, she carried her beliefs with grace and instilled the values of kindness, compassion, and service in those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Gardiner and Rita Gatti Gardiner. Carolyn leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish her memory: her son, Paul B. Mallon, Jr., and his wife Clairann Mallon; her daughter, Christine D. Mallon; and two sisters, Dolores Ferzola and Elaine Brunner.
Carolyn’s spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her generosity, humility, and strength remain a lasting legacy for her family and friends.
