WILMINGTON — Carrie Lynn Serene, of Wilmington, N.C., was called to come home November 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of class, love, laughter, and kindness that touched everyone who knew her.
Carrie is preceded in death by her beloved and devoted parents, Regis and Mary Lou Serene, grandparents Charles and Darlene Serene, Harry and Dorothy Schwind. Carrie is survived by her baby sister Nicole Serene (Tim), Ronnie Watson (Peppy), Aunt and Uncles, Richard (Stephanie) Serene, Harry (Nancy) Schwind, Ruth Roese, Rosalie (Larry) Carter. She is also survived by many cousins she loved: Rhonda Bitler, Melanie Carter, Kristy Carter, Jodie Hite, Casey Carter, Misty Roese, Scott Schwind, Drew Schwind and Matthew Serene.
Born on October 19, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio, Carrie lived a life full of joy, kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was a proud big sister to Nicole and a true role model, offering warmth, guidance, and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit and steady heart made her the kind of sister and friend everyone wishes for.
Carrie had a deep affection for animals, especially her beloved dog, Peppy, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. She found joy in helping others, offering words of comfort and acts of kindness however she could. She enjoyed boating, camping, visiting her out-of-town family, crafting and creating beautiful and thoughtful gifts for everyone. Above all she most enjoyed laughter, humor, and family gatherings.
A proud Pirate and Seahawk, Carrie cherished years at East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she collected a lot of knowledge and fond memories that defined her beautiful nature.
Throughout her life, Carrie embraced many roles with grace, and enthusiasm while caring for others—from a Candy Striper at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, to Hoggard’s solo and last Majorette, Pageant Beauty, Guardian Ad-Litem program trainee in addition to superior Customer Service and Gift Wrapper extraordinaire.
No matter where she was or what she was doing, Carrie brought light charm and kindness to everyone around her. She had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments, extra extraordinary through her warm smile, her elegantly detailed events, and her genuine ability to listen with care. Even the way she wrapped a gift-always beautiful and with intention- reflected the love and dedication brought to everything she did.
Those who knew Carrie describe her as classy, sweet, caring, compassionate, and loyal. She was true friend, a devoted sister, and a loving soul whose presence made the world a gentler place. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in her life’s journey.
Carrie’s life was a beautiful reminder that kindness leaves an everlasting mark. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and friends.
