WILMINGTON — Melissa Ann Pourcho, 61, our beloved sister passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2025, at Cedar Cove Assisted Living in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Born on June 5, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, Melissa brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. Her spirit was one of kindness, and her love knew no bounds, always having a heartfelt hug for everyone.
Melissa had cerebral palsy and found solace in the art of knitting, enjoyed working on puzzles, also she loved the beach and always enjoying her visits to the Hanover Seaside Club with Mom and Mr. Don. Melissa found beauty in her collection of angels, which symbolized her gentle nature and belief in watching over those she loved. Even with all her disability and mental illness she found a way to smile and have fun every day.
Melissa’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a dedicated, long time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilmington, where she was embraced by a community that became an extended family.
She leaves behind two cherished sisters, Mary Lynn Price who she called “Mama Bear” and Julie-Elizabeth Pourcho known to her as “Giggy”, her nephew, Mason Pourcho, her great-nephew, Reef Patrick Pourcho; and her two special dogs, “Sadie” and “Mahalo”. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bruce Dallas Pourcho and Gloria Mae Rasbury Pourcho.
A special thank-you to the staff at Cedar Cove, especially Allie, Maria, and Chasity.
