WILMINGTON — Bonnie was born to her father Fred Foster and her mother Almedia Burgess in Minneapolis, MN on 16 September 1947 and passed away peacefully on 17 March 2025 after a short but intense battle with cancer.
Like everything in her life she took on this last project with grit and determination.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Almedia, Siblings Dale, Allen, and Anita, as well as oldest Son Harold Rogstad.
Survived by Sons Robert Rogstad Jr (Renee) and Dale Rogstad (Jodi), Grandsons Daniel, Matthew and Eirik; sister Debra Lewis and brother Clyde Foster; as well as her special companion Bill Campion and her dog “Prince”.
Bonnie grew up in Columbia Heights, Minnesota and graduated in 1965 from Columbia Heights High School where she met her first Husband Robert Rogstad. With him being in the Navy she followed with their children to posts in California while he deployed twice to Vietnam. Following their service they moved back to the Minneapolis area.
After their divorce in 1974 Bonnie moved to the San Jose, California area with her 3 boys and attended San Jose State University receiving her BS and meeting her second Husband, Craig Harbidge (div 1982).
Returning to the Midwest to be closer to her family she moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin where she spent as much time with her parents on their farm as possible. Eventually she made her way back to the Minneapolis area and married her third Husband, Ron Ostman (div 2000),and cared for her ailing Son Harold who passed away in 1994.
Seeking to get away from the Minnesota winters she moved first to South Carolina for a short spell before settling in Wilmington, North Carolina to be closer to the Ocean she loved.
Bonnie was a jack of all trades and enjoyed a long working life that included extended time at PPD in Wilmington, NC and Bio-Medicus/Medtronic in Minneapolis, MN where she enjoyed many friends and memories. She loved to work and she loved the people she worked with.
Her biggest passion was gardening and bird watching but she tried and enjoyed everything she could find including dancing, traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, bowling, theater, music, zip-lines, and many other activities. Being a rabid Minnesota Viking fan brought her a ton of joy (and some misery). She never stopped trying new things and had no fear.
Her family and friends will remember her drive and constant movement forward. She always had a project and loved to roll up her sleeves and continually work on her house and garden. She loved working and playing and spending time with her friends and family. We couldn’t be prouder of her.
No local memorial services are planned at this time.
