WILMINGTON — James (Jim) Robert Legg, 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 12, 2021 in Wilmington, NC. Jim was born on December 14, 1939 in Flushing, NY and grew up in New Hyde Park, NY. Jim graduated from C.W. Post College in 1962. He and his wife, Ada, retired to Wilmington, NC in 1999.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He started each day reading his Wall Street Journal cover-to-cover while drinking his morning “cup of joe.” He was an avid golfer and boating enthusiast. Jim was an active member of Little Chapel on the Boardwalk where he served on session and many committees.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ada; sister, Jean Yeldezian of Phoenix, MD; daughter, Christine Horne and son-in-law Frank Horne of New Bern, NC; son, James Legg, Jr. and his significant other Natalia Angeli of Long Valley, NJ; son, Robert Legg and daughter-in-law Anita Puri of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren, Caroline Horne, Chrissie Horne, Katie Horne, Allie Legg, and Nicole Legg.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, located at 2 W. Fayetteville St., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480.
