WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness that the family of Steven Bayley Smith, 23, announce his passing on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019. He was diagnosed with a kidney disease at the age of 7.
Amidst the condition, he was able to excel academically. He graduated from Wilmington Early College with a degree in fine arts. Bayley worked for his family’s business managing parts, service and customer relations. He was very artistically inclined, and also loved to fish and ride his four-wheeler. He had a brilliant mind, beautiful soul and deep love for his family.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Dawn Smith; brother, Seth Smith; and loving grandparents, Samuel and Betty Bradsher and Jim and Joy Cottle. He was the treasured nephew of Jimmy and Kristy Smith, Ginger Smith, Earl and Robin Thompson and Rich Cottle.
Bayley will always be remembered by his cousins, Chelsea Thompson, Corey Biggs, Cody Biggs, Tanner Blue, Caitlyn Biggs, Bethanie Gore Pantlin, Mason Lutz and many other relatives.
A traditional service will not be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a future date. The family will receive friends and family from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, at the family home, 8216 Lantana Lane.
