WILMINGTON — A grant for Access Dental Care will help ensure New Hanover County residents gain access to high-quality oral health care.
The Endowment gave $300,000 to the provider, which serves individuals with complex needs, including older adults who face barriers to traditional care. The money will go toward a mobile dental truck, customized equipment, and training and support of a second mobile dental team.
Access Dental Care collaborates with the New Hanover County Health Department, New Hanover County Senior Resource Center, The Cape Fear Clinic, The Healing Place and other long-term care facilities.
“Access Dental Care provides an essential service to some of our most vulnerable community members,” Leigh Quarles, Network Officer, Social & Health Equity, said in a release.”
The grant was the final execution of the year from The Endowment, which granted $59 million to varied nonprofits in 2025. The Endowment was founded from the sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center to Novant in 2021 with nearly $1.3 billion, but has grown to more than $1.7 billion; roughly $177 million has been doled out since inception.
