LELAND – As a response to the explosive growth in northern Brunswick County, plans for new retail, office and restaurant space have been announced at Westgate Marketplace, next to the Super Walmart along Highway 17.
The 4.5 acre site will have 31,600 square feet of leasable space. Westgate Marketplace is over 50-percent pre-leased, according to a news release. Wilmington-based real estate company Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Company has been working to fill the space, while McKinley Building has the construction contract.
“It’s been hard to keep up with all the new business coming into the area,” said Dana Fisher of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. “This latest addition just adds to the growth and we continue to look at ways to attract new business.”
Among the new tenants already slotted to occupy the new spaces are Petsense (pets supply shop), Miyabi Japanese Express Hibachi restaurant, which owns stores in nearby Myrtle Beach and Jacksonville. Charlie Grainger’s Hot Dogs, Brisket and BBQ and Complete Coastal Dentistry are also among the announced tenants, while Leland-based Ganey, Byrd and Dunn Insurance will be relocating to the new spot.
The new marketplace area will help serve the Westgate Residential Master Development Plan. With apartments and town homes already located along Westgate Drive, developers have identified multiple sites for new apartments, single family homes and 60 acres of commercial space for future growth in the area.
