WILMINGTON — Martha Jean Payne Haas was born on March 8, 1931 and raised in Granite Falls, NC.
After graduating high school she married Charles Haas of Lenoir. Their life together moved them from North Carolina to Virginia and Maryland. In the mid 1960’s, they purchased High’s Dining Room at Carolina Beach and they remained in the Wilmington area.
Martha was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Haas and each of her brothers, Harold, Raymond and Robert Payne.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Vicki White (Joseph) of Fleming Island, Fl., a son, Doug Haas (Georgeann) of Wilmington, grandchildren Katie Johnson (Joseph) of Liberty, NC, Jeb Teuton (Falyn) of Palatka, Fl., Marley Teuton of Palatka, Fl., Jessica Tesch (Josh) of Columbia, SC, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family wants to thank the team at the Kempton in Liberty Commons for taking such loving care of Mom. Lower Cape Fear Lifecare also did a wonderful job of caring for mom and us, in her time in hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare of Wilmington.
