WILMINGTON — Barbara Sheese Wilson, born February 16, 1940, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 85. Her life was a testament to kindness, devotion, and an unwavering spirit.
Having graduated from Ursinus College, Class of 1961, Barbara dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as a Teacher of Special Education within the New York State School System. Her career was marked by compassion and commitment, leaving a lasting impact on the students she taught and the colleagues she inspired.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara was a woman of varied interests. She was an avid reader who found great joy in exploring the shelves of libraries and participating in local reading clubs. Luncheons with dear friends were cherished moments that filled her days with laughter and warmth. She also kept in close contact with her sorority sisters of Phi Alpha Psi from college, having fun on annual beach trips and supporting each other over the years. After retirement, Barbara embraced her love for travel, exploring a new country each year. Her adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world provided her with countless memories and stories.
Barbara was a friendly soul, known for her ability to speak her mind with honesty and grace. She was devoted to her family, always placing their needs above her own. Her love and dedication were evident in every facet of her life, from nurturing her children to doting on her grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frederick and Blanche (nee Williams) Sheese. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert L. Wilson; her loving children, Dean (Susan) Wilson, David (Christine) Wilson, and Lynnley (Larry) Moore; her treasured grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, Christopher, Kevin, Riley, and Hannah; and her dear sister, Jodi (John) Murray. Her family and friends will miss her deeply but are forever grateful for the time they shared with her.
Family services are currently being planned to honor Barbara’s life and legacy. In this time of remembrance, those who knew her are invited to celebrate the remarkable woman she was—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Barbara Sheese Wilson’s legacy will continue to flourish in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. May her memory be a blessing.
