BOLIVIA — A new bronze monument honoring the men and women who fought in the American Revolution will soon have a permanent home on the Brunswick County courthouse lawn.
The Brunswick Town Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will host a dedication ceremony for the marker at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 27. The monument is designed to recognize all individuals who supported the war effort between the Battle of Lexington in 1775 and the British departure from New York in 1783.

The chapter applied for the marker two years ago through the NSDAR’s national “Revolutionary America” program, which is installing 250 markers nationwide to commemorate the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Funding for the project was raised locally through community fundraisers and private donations.
Positioned on the east side of the courthouse lawn near the parking entrance, the marker will feature a surrounding garden maintained by county staff.
The dedication will feature a color guard from American Legion Post 453 and is expected to be attended by state and county officials, as well as members of the Sons of the American Revolution.
The Brunswick Town Chapter, which currently has more than 170 members, has previously installed several local historic markers, including tributes to Korean and Vietnam War soldiers and a marker for the 1775 seizure of Fort Johnston.
The event is open to the public. More information on the chapter and its historic preservation efforts can be found on the organization’s website.
