HAMPSTEAD — An exit ramp on North Carolina 140 will close Wednesday night for N.C. Department of Transportation contractors to install a concrete barrier.
Construction will affect the ramp at exit 23 on North Carolina 140 westbound, set to close at 8 p.m. on June 17. The addition of the barrier strengthens safety measures among motorists, as it separates drivers from active construction zones along the Hampstead Bypass. The ramp will open by 5 a.m. on June 18.
Traffic on 140 westbound should access Military Cutoff Road by continuing south on U.S. 17 toward Wilmington to the U.S. 17/Military Cutoff Road interchange.
All drivers are encouraged to execute caution when steering through work areas. More up-to-date information can be found here.
