SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Grant funding is available through the state for Eastern North Carolina nonprofits.
Organizations supporting education and health and human services can apply for funds from the Louise Oriole Burevitch Endowment, starting June 30. The endowment was founded by a Wilmington philanthropist.
“Mrs. Burevitch’s legacy of supporting North Carolinians in the eastern part of the state continues to grow through this grants program,” North Carolina Community Foundation President and CEO Jennifer Tolle Whiteside said in a press release.
There is $500,000 available to be divvied up, coming from the North Carolina Community Endowment. Awarded grants will range from $25,000 to $50,000.
This year marks the endowment’s sixth annual competitive cycle, which supports nonprofits in 41 counties including New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender.
The endowment was established in 2015 and since 2018, it has awarded more than $2.5 million to nonprofits.
Interested nonprofits can review the request for proposals, which outlines eligibility guidelines and information on how to apply. Grant applications must focus on education, health or human services and preference will be given to those that benefit women, the elderly, children and youth in the region.
Applications are due by noon Aug. 1; awards will be announced in October.
