Leland police investigate overnight deadly shooting

LELAND — A deadly shooting took place early Sunday morning in a Leland home, according to police.

Around 3:49 a.m. law enforcement was dispatched to the 9400 block of Night Harbor Drive. Upon arrival they found one person shot with life-threatening injuries. EMS attempted lifesaving efforts but were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have one person in custody, who knew the victim. Leland Police Department said the incident appears to be isolated and danger isn’t imminent to area residents or the community.

The victim’s name is not being released until family is contacted.
