WILMINGTON — Cape Fear Community College will conduct a large-scale mass casualty and active shooter simulation training exercise on Saturday, April 25.
The exercise is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will take place across CFCC’s Downtown Campus — specifically the N, A, and S buildings and Union Station — as well as the North Campus. CFCC is partnering with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office to execute the drill.

During the simulation, the public should expect a significant police presence and may hear simulated gunfire. Mock patients will also be transported between buildings throughout the day.
The college stated the interdisciplinary exercise is designed to provide realistic training for students and first responders while improving interagency collaboration for emergency situations.
While there are no planned street closures, the sidewalk in front of CFCC’s N, A, and S buildings on Front Street will be closed to the public to allow emergency responders to operate safely.
