Brunswick County Schools announced Tuesday Lincoln Elementary is not open.

It closed after Leland Fire and Rescue responded to a brush fire near Playground Way. The N.C. Forest Service has it under control and is monitoring it and investigating the cause.

It led to the evacuation of numerous homes Monday and the Lincoln Road closure. No injuries have been reported.

The school did not suffer structural damage, but officials are taking stock of ventilation and smoke damage and making needed repairs. Lincoln Elementary leadership will work from Belville Elementary School until further notice.

The principal and staff can be reached by calling (910)-371-0601.
