Monday, March 20
The Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda briefing at 8:30 a.m. at city hall, 103 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube.
The Bald Head Island Commercial Area Master Plan Committee will hold a work session on at 9:00 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Department of Public Safety Building located at 273 Edward Teach Extension. The meeting can be livestreamed here.
New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. at the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on NHCTV and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- Introduction of new county attorney Jordan Smith
- Adoption of resolution approving the supplemental agreement for additional opioid settlement funds between the state and local governments. Read PCD coverage here.

The Town of Kure Beach will meet at 6 p.m. in council chambers, 117 Settlers Lane. The agenda includes:

- Continued discussion of Resolution R23-02 in support of 2023 Year of the Trail
- Update on Sandman Park
- Update on state request for support of local attractions
The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia. The agenda includes:
- Hickmans Crossing subdivision DOD
- Prequalification for construction at Town Creek Elementary School
- The Villas at Shingletree DOD
The Oak Island Town Council will meet at 4 p.m. in council chambers at Oak Island Town Hall. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agenda includes:
- Public hearing for a special use permit request for a mini-golf course
- Public hearing for a special use permit request for a hotel
Tuesday, March 21
The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. at city hall, 103 N. Third St. The meeting can be livestreamed on GTV8 and YouTube. A few items on the agenda include:
- A resolution approving an amendment to an installment financing contract in an amount not to exceed $30 million for sidewalk and street projects, parks and recreation projects, construction of a new fire station, and construction of a sports complex
- Ordinance appropriating $71,277 from the general fund road race and organized walk committed revenues to fund a feasibility study to improve the safety of the municipal golf course crossings on Pine Grove Drive
- Resolution adopting the March 2023 HOME-ARP Allocation plan, which calls for funding the development of 66 permanent supportive housing units
- Resolution to amend an installment financing contract in an amount not to exceed $70 million to finance the acquisition of a downtown campus, including a building, parking deck and related property. Read PCD coverage here.

The Brunswick County Schools committee meetings will be held at 9 a.m. in the board room of the Brunswick County Schools Administrative Offices located at 35 Referendum Drive, in Bolivia. The meeting can be livestreamed here. The agendas can be viewed here.
The Pender County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center at 798 U.S. Highway 117. The agenda includes:
- Update on book review
- Receive information from LS3P regarding potential structural expansion to Topsail High School
- High school parking fees
The Brunswick County Board of Elections meet at 2 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the David R. Sandifer Building, 30 Government Center Drive NE, Bolivia. Items on the agenda include public comment, a director’s report, new and old business.
Wednesday, March 22
North Topsail Beach Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet at 5:30 p.m. at town hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court. The agenda includes:
- An appeal by Mark Boike for a denied zoning permit for 340 Topsail Road
- An appeal by Lloyd Moore for a denied zoning permit for rebuilding a deck at 4122 Island Drive
- An appeal by Mark Wilson for a citation notice by the planning director for rebuilding of damaged dunes, development without a permit, and violation of conditions imposed

Thursday, March 23
The Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. in Union Station at 502 N. Front St. An agenda was not posted by press.
The N.C. Ports Board of Directors will meet at 9 a.m. in the board room of the N.C. Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Blvd. The public may return in person.
The Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Forden Station located at 505 Cando St., 28405. The public can attend in person and virtually at https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/844936749. - Update on Wave’s zero emissions fleet transition plan
- Short range transit plan
The Multistate Trust, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality will hold a virtual and in-person community meeting at 6 p.m. and an in-person information session at 7 p.m. in the Navassa Community Center, 338 Main St., to discuss upcoming cleanup work of Operable Unit 2 at the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp-Navassa Superfund Site. Other meeting topics will include site investigations, redevelopment planning and the eventual sale of the Multistate Trust-owned property, the future donation of land for the planned Moze Heritage Center and Nature Park, and an update on natural resource restoration projects.
