WILMINGTON — It’s about halfway through the official filing season for the 2020 local elections. While many eyes will be on the Presidential election, there will also be plenty of contentious local elections for state and county offices.
While Port City Daily will follow the governor’s race — which will see local representative Holly Grange run against current Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest in a Republican primary to challenge Democrat Governor Roy Cooper — we will mostly be focusing on local elections: county commissioners, board of education members, Registers of Deeds, and local state representatives for both the house and senate (Sheriff Ed McMahon and District Attorney Ben David are not up for re-election until 2022).
You can find info on the newly redrawn state district maps here.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be covering filing and the campaigns ahead. All the coverage will be free to read, and you can find it in our Elections section. You can also click links below to find more information on candidates, which will be updated as more candidates provide information.
