A much-loved downtown eatery is getting a facelift.
That’s how Brad Corpening, co-owner of Chop’s Deli, describes the renovations now underway at the 130 N. Front St. location.
“We’re doing a lot cosmetic things we’ve wanted to do for awhile,” Corpening said. “Right now is the time to do it since it’s typically our slower time of the year.”
When Corpening and Chris Graham opened up shop downtown six years ago, the pair basically “moved in, slapped some paint on the walls and started making sandwiches.”
“We’ve never done any modifications,” he noted.
While he wants the big reveal–expected in the coming weeks–to be a surprise, Corpening said diners can expect an “updated kind of look” that is more consistent with the Chop’s brand. Since opening in 2009, Corpening and Graham have added two more locations, one in Monkey Junction and another near Wrightsville Beach.
“It’s going to be new,” he said. “There will be some subtle changes and some big wow, smack-you-in-the-face changes.”
Updates on the remodeling project, including a reopening date will be posted on Chop’s Deli’s Facebook page. The other two locations will remain open and unaffected by work at the downtown restaurant.
