PENDER COUNTY — Pender County School District will host its first of two community forums Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The forums are meant to share information and provide residents with the opportunity to participate in the planning process as the county prepares for growth and redistricting its schools.
As a part of the process, the district is partnering with North Carolina State University’s SchoolCAMP and Operations Research and Education Laboratory teams. The groups will act as a third party helping with technical support, data analysis and community engagement.
Pender County Schools representative Bob Fankboner wrote in a statement the information would aid in assignment boundaries, future facility needs and other strategies to address continued growth.
Additionally, Fankboner wrote community values and priorities will be used to inform recommendations considered by the Board of Education.
For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be livestreamed on the Pender County Schools Youtube channel.
Both forums will be held at Topsail High School and begin at 6 p.m. The second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17.
