BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The Brunswick Little Theater is opening auditions in October for the 2026 holiday season show, “Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus.”
The show will run from Dec. 3 through 20 and is staged as a 1940s radio broadcast, with the set in a radio station. Memorization of dialogue is not required for the show. Auditions take place Oct. 6 and 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Brunswick Little Theater in the classrooms behind the theater.
“Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus” takes place in 1897 New York City near Christmastime. Eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, while excited for the holiday, grapples with belief when her friends inform her there is no Santa Claus. Her father suggests she write a letter to the local newspaper asking if Santa Claus is real. Meanwhile, at the New York Sun newspaper, writer Francis Church, in the throes of grief after the loss of his wife, receives it and decides to investigate the answer.
The production is a dramatic holiday comedy and family-friendly and includes all age ranges. The 12-member casting call is for actors as young as 8 up to adults of any age range. Several actors will play more than one part, so vocal variation will be key.
Also needed are one to two people without dialogue, to produce sound effects live on stage during the production.
Those interested in auditioning should bring a resume and headshot, and be prepared to list conflicts between Oct. 12 and Dec. 2.
