PENDER COUNTY — Seven Pender County Schools will dismiss early Tuesday after a waterline break.
In a statement the district wrote it was notified of a waterline break along U.S. Highway 421 near Blueberry Road by Pender County Utilities Director James Proctor. The break has caused water pressure in the affected area to continue to drop. As a result, the following schools will dismiss students early:
- Cape Fear Elementary School
- Cape Fear Middle School
- Heide Trask High School
- Malpass Corner Elementary School
- Pender High School
- Pender Innovative Learning Academy
- Rocky Point Elementary School
Families will be contacted by their students’ school with specific information regarding dismissal times, student pickup and transportation.
Additionally, all after school activities at the seven schools are effectively canceled for the day.
The district expects all schools to operate on a normal schedule Wednesday, Sept. 23. Pender County Schools is in communication with Pender County Utilities and continues to monitor conditions.
