WILMINGTON — In June, water damage shuttered the Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant, located on South Front Street in downtown Wilmington. This week, Chef Cem Aktas and his wife Kristen, said they were pleased to be reopening.
When a pipe in a condo upstairs from the restaurant burst, the damage forced the restaurant to close immediately.
“The water damage was very bad,” Aktas said. “It came down through the walls, so we really had to fix everything.”
Repairs were delayed by Hurricane Florence, but the Black Sea Grill staff made the most of it; when the storm passed, they worked out Magnolia Social Café, serving first responders and others in need of a meal.
Finally, on Tuesday, Aktas said they had a “very quiet test opening,” and then opened for business on Wednesday. Aktas said the restaurant would be taking reservations for service on Friday and Saturday.
“We’re very happy to be open again, and to see everyone,” said Kristen Aktas.
Black Sea Grill is located at 118 S. Front St. For more information, visit the Black Sea Grill website and Facebook page. For reservations, call 910-254-9990.
