SOUTHPORT — James Forest “Forest” Propst, II, born on June 30, 1965, in Morristown, TN, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Bolivia, NC, at the age of 60. Forest lived a life filled with kindness, dedication, and love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Forest began his professional journey as a paramedic, spending ten years selflessly serving his community with skill and care. He later transitioned into the hospitality industry, where he thrived as a hotel manager, touching the lives of countless guests and colleagues with his genuine kindness and unwavering professionalism.
A man of diverse interests and passions, Forest was a proud patriot who enjoyed collecting coins and guns. He was an avid supporter of the Houston Astros baseball team and cherished the simple pleasures in life, like enjoying a cold beer and listening to talk radio. Forest had a special fondness for basset hounds, whose gentle nature mirrored his own.
Known for his unshakeable kindness, Forest never raised his voice or uttered a complaint, embodying the virtues of patience and understanding. His gentle spirit was a testament to his love of the Episcopal Church that he was raised in by his loving parents. He was baptized , confirmed, professed and accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as Savior as a young man.
Forest was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Forest Propst and Joye Lovelace, as well as Jimi Carole Biggerstaff, who lovingly raised him after Joye’s passing. He is survived by the love of his life, Margie Guyton, who shared his journey with unwavering support and companionship. His legacy lives on through his daughters, Cindy (Todd), Sherry (Nathan), and Shannon (John), who were his pride and joy. He was the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren: Kayla, Robert, Isaac, Israel, Jake, Isabella, and Liam, each of whom will carry forward his spirit of love and kindness.
Also mourning his loss are his brother, Dewey Propst; niece, Abbie Propst Lowe; nephew, Andrew Propst; and great-nephews, Colt and Riggs Lowe. Forest’s circle of special friends, including Steve Holth, Melissa Fineman, Curt and Jennifer James, will deeply miss his friendship and warmth.
Though we grieve his passing, a celebration of Forest’s life will be held at a later date, allowing us all to gather and honor the extraordinary man he was. In this time of remembrance, we hold dear the countless memories and the enduring impact Forest made on our lives. Until we meet again, he will remain forever in our hearts.
