SOUTHPORT — A Southport resident spent $30 to make $100,000 after striking big with a lottery ticket purchased from Rosie’s Gas & Grill on Long Beach Road.
William Everett purchased a $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off and brought it to lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim his prize. After the required state and federal tax withholdings, Everett took home $72,018.
The new scratch-off game debuted in March with 80 $100,000 top prizes; 61 of those prizes remain unclaimed. Percentages of revenue made from purchasing scratch-offs and lottery tickets go into “lottery funds”; education programs in Brunswick County received $6.3 million from those lottery funds in 2025.
