Sarah Marie Geedy, 44

Sarah Marie Geedy (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Sarah Marie Geedy, lovingly known as “Magoo,” was born September 12, 1981, to Kenneth Eugene Geedy and Theresa Marie Geedy. Weighing just 3 pounds 5 ounces, she came into this world a fighter-and she left it the same way on October 1, 2025.

In 2005, Sarah graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Interpreter Education (ASL) from the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf. In 2007, her world changed when she received the beautiful gift of her son, Danny Deese Costello Sanchez. On May 28, 2011, she was blessed again with the birth of her daughter, Kenleigh Alyce Walker.

The years that followed brought challenges, and Sarah faced more than her share of struggles. Even in difficult times, her devotion to her children never wavered, and she continued to push forward with determination.

On June 25, 2021, she married Daniel Thomas Dickerson, and in those years she found a new sense of joy, stability, and love. Sarah was often described as feisty, even mean at times, but she was so much more than that. She loved deeply, and when she cared about you, there was never any doubt. She had a way of laughing that pulled others in, and she could make any moment lighter just by being herself.

She also had a tender side and welcomed a good cry, whether from a song or a movie that touched her heart. Sarah lived life with intensity and passion. Whether she was working hard, loving her family, laughing with friends, or finding release in tears, she did everything with her whole heart. She loved to sing, she gave her all to her work, and she left an impression on every life she touched. Whatever she did -fighting, loving, working, singing, laughing, or crying – Sarah did it with her whole heart. She lived big. She loved big.

Sarah put her faith in the resurrection hope promised in the Bible. It has been said that death reminds us how short life can be, but the resurrection hope reminds us how short death will be. Isn’t Jehovah wonderful! Soon her family’s tears of pain will be replaced with tears of joy when they welcome her back. As Revelation 21:4 promises: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Until that day comes, Sarah will be remembered with love, held close in the hearts of her family and friends — until she is welcomed back, this time as a “big, beautiful butterfly” (A Bug’s Life).
