WILMINGTON — On Sunday, May 4, 2025, our earthly angel, Peggy Brown George, joined her husband, Harold George at her new address in Heaven.
Born September 21, 1932 in Mebane, NC, Peggy shared her special gift of kindness and compassion with everyone she met. She had a passion for cooking, loving to feed family and friends and opening her home to all. Peggy never met a stranger.
Peggy loved to golf and play cards with her friends, and she never passed up an opportunity to socialize over dinner. She was usually the life of the party with a ready joke.
She also was a large part of the Mebane community and basically knew everyone. Not only did she list personal property taxes, she also worked on bloodmobiles and acted as the Democratic judge at the local elections. She also worked in the local dress shop where she provided fashion advice to everyone.
She also was a very active volunteer – where there was a need in the community she was there to help. Between being a Girl Scout cookie leader, delivering Meals on Wheels and helping at the library (where she knew about all the latest books) she was very active. As a member of the Mebane Presbyterian Church, she led Circle meetings, kept nursery and shared her love for the church with her girls.
Peggy transitioned to Wilmington, NC to be near her girls. Her large personality moved with her where she made an impression with her community at Lake Shore Commons. She made fast friends. She met a new best friend, Mary Terrell and wonderful caregiver, Linda Jones.
She ultimately slowed down a little and moved to Trinity Grove. She was welcomed with open arms. Her kindness and amazing personality were still able to shine through. A very special thank you to each and every one there for their excellent care for not only Peggy, but for her family. It is truly a blessed place with angels on earth.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold George; her beloved mother, Lola Brown; father, Albert Brown; sister, Patsy Brown Hunter and brother, Robert Brown.
For her family, she is survived by three daughters, Michelle George Roberts (Billy Roberts), Denise George Lingenfelser (Charlie Lingenfelser) and Lisa George Crisp (Tom Whalen) and her granddaughter, Dana Lingenfelser, which was her pride and joy. She was always quick to share a picture or a story about her.
Her extended family included cousins and family that added to her enjoyment. Extended family includes: David Roberts (Cindy Roberts), Todd Roberts (Arleen Roberts) and Scott Roberts and their children and grandchildren.
Peggy lived an amazing life and impacted so many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mebane Public Library, 101 S First St, Mebane, NC 27302.
