Anne Dolores (nee Hauck) Krothe, 79

Anne Dolores (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Anne Dolores (nee Hauck) Krothe, 79, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2024.

Anne was the beloved mother of two daughters, the fun Nani to two grandchildren, and the favorite ‘Aunt Anne’ to numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.

Anne was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 10, 1945 to the late Edward and Anne (Malarkey) Hauck. She and her late husband, Trubee A. Krothe, resided and raised their two daughters in Warminster, PA., until 2012 when they retired to Wilmington, NC.

Anne worked at Trans World Airlines (TWA) in Philadelphia for over 35 years and enjoyed traveling the world. Following her career at TWA, Anne worked for Prudential/High Point Insurance, in Horsham, PA until her retirement.

Anne was the life of every gathering. She had a witty sense of humor, loved music, dancing, Jeopardy and was always ready to go ‘down the shore.’ Anne was the cherished matriarch of the Hauck family and a dedicated friend, maintaining connections with friends from every chapter of her life. Anne always said she had the best neighbors in Warminster and thought of them as family. Her favorite vacation spot was Ventnor, NJ where she and Trubee enjoyed over 30 summers of sun and fun with friends on the Lafayette Avenue beach. Anne’s most meaningful legacy is undoubtedly the personalized Christmas stockings she handknit. The beautiful Santa stockings have been sent far-and-wide and are the hallmark of the holiday season for most everyone she knew and many she did not.

The family would like to thank the pastoral care of Wrightsville United Methodist Church, and all of nursing and medical support staff at Eldercare Home Care and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice who helped her navigate her declining health. Many of you became dear friends along the way and your support, friendship and extraordinary dedication to Ms. Anne will be with us always.

Anne will be deeply missed by her two daughters: Annemarie (Jeff) Petroff of Wilmington, NC and Helene Krothe of Eugene, OR: two grandchildren: Behrett and Annderson Petroff of Wilmington; one sister: Sr. Eleanor Hauck, S.H.C.J.; a brother, Edward D. Hauck (Betsy), a sister-in-law Elizabeth (Betsi) Hauck, many nieces, nephews and a loving extended family. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Trubee A. Krothe; siblings Mary Breen (Hugh), Regina Jones, Martha DiCesare (Guy), Gregory J. Hauck and Thomas C. Hauck.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Anne’s honor to the Northside Elite Aquatics (NSEA) Swim Foundation, where her grandchildren swim. This foundation aims to increase water safety and prevent drowning by offering free community swim lessons to children and adults in the peninsula community of Wilmington, NC.
