CASTLE HAYNE — Betty Mills Gmytruk, age 90 a longtime resident of Castle Hayne, NC passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCareCenter.
Betty was born in Columbus County, NC on May 26, 1932 to George Guy Mills and Pearl Newell Mills. She grew up near Freeman, NC and was married to John Anthony Gmytruk on August 6, 1958 and lived in Castle Hayne most of her adult life. She enjoyed gardening, and fishing and always would share her bounty with family and neighbors.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Cliff and Linda Pearl Woodrow; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Mills Chinn and Kathleen Mills Hatfield, and one brother Charlie Mills; and many nephews and nieces who she loved very much.
Remembered is her husband John Anthony Gmytruk, Jr. and her son, John Anthony “Bubba” Gmytruk, III; her siblings to include Martha Mills Howlett, Katie Mills Cook, Wesley Mills, Kenneth Mills, and George Eugene “Buddy” Mills all who preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery in Castle Hayne.
