WILMINGTON — Glenn Donald Taylor Sr., 83, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at his home in the warm embrace of his family.
He was born Sept. 19, 1937, the son of Lacey Allen Taylor and Allie Mae James Taylor.
Glenn served his country with honor and distinction as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1974.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lewis Taylor; and nephew, Milton McGuire.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Elaine McGuire Taylor, who he was married to for 63 years; three daughters, Brenda Hebert, and her husband, Tony, Polly Clawson, and her husband, David, and Catherine Hill, and her husband, Buck; son, Glenn Taylor Jr.; seven grandchildren who were the light of his life, Spencer Hebert, Christopher Clawson, Kerah Clawson, Garrett Taylor, Emily Taylor, Megan Ellis-Sansone, and her husband, Gary, and Lindsey Hill; and niece, Beth Luquette.
Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 24, for a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4000 Monroe Hwy., Ball, Louisiana. In recognition of Glenn’s honorable and faithful service to his country, the U.S. Navy Honor Guard will render Military Honors, his casket will be draped with an American flag.
