Edward Garfield ‘Pony’ Spivey

ASH — Mr. Edward Garfield “Pony” Spivey, 63, passed Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was born Jan. 12, 1958, in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Mr. Spivey was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a crane operator in the construction industry and an avid hunter.

He was preceded in death by his father, G.F. Spivey; and brother, Ronald Spivey.

He is survived by his fiancé, Donna Talbert; and her grandchildren, Cody and Joseph of Eagle Rock, Virginia; mother, Janet Carpenter of Rocky Mount; brother, Charles Spivey of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; sister, Christie Taylor of Danville, Virginia; aunt, Gerry Simmons of Ash; cousin, Grady “Shorty” Simmons, and his wife, Debra, of Bolton, and their son, Casey Bowen, and his wife, Jamie, of Tabor City, and their children, Lily, Aria and Abigail; and faithful companion, his pet dog, Gretchen.

He will be missed by all of his friends and family.
