WILMINGTON — Tony Wayne Tart passed away on September 21, 2026, in Bolivia, NC, at the age of 67. Born on October 27, 1958, in Wilmington, NC, Tony lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and work.
Tony graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of commitment and service. He began his career at Capital Ford in Wilmington before dedicating 33 years to Jones Ford in Shallotte, NC, where he served as a Service Representative until his passing. In addition to his work at Jones Ford, Tony appreciated the craftsmanship and history of automobiles, a passion that complemented his professional life. Tony also worked for many years part-time at Circle K, a testament to his steadfast work ethic.
A man of varied interests, Tony found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished spending time with his family and was an avid fan of wrestling. His love for animals was evident in the care he provided to the family dogs, cats, chickens, and rabbits. Tony’s passion for music shone through his participation in the church choir, where his masterful baritone voice uplifted many. Raised in the Baptist faith, he attended Long Leaf Baptist Church regularly with his mother where he shared his gift of song. He also shared his love for hymns in churches he visited as well as many guest solo appearances for other events.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Warren G. “Brownie” Tart, and his mother, Doris Tart Chinnis. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Debra B. Tart; his daughter, Michelle; stepdaughter, Kristine and his grandchildren, Tyler (Christina), Blayne, and Hayden. He also leaves behind his brother, Tim Tart (Tracie), nephew, Dallas Tart, as well as his very dear friend, Joanna Jennings. Tony was cherished by numerous friends and extended family who will miss his kind, caring, and quiet presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association in Tony’s memory, honoring his life and legacy through contributions that make a difference.
Tony Wayne Tart will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his dedication to those he loved, and the quiet strength with which he touched the lives of many.
