Curtis Weldon Lee, 89, active Shriner with Wilmington Lodge

WILMINGTON — Mr. Curtis Weldon Lee, 89, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma Dell Lee. He was born March 17, 1931, in Darlington, South Carolina, to the late Susie and Arthur Lee.

Mr. Lee was a Mason and Shriner from the Wilmington Lodge, and a founding member of the Arab Choo-Choo Train, which involved visiting children’s hospitals and the Oxford Orphanage. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Choo-Choo functions (they loved going with Papa to ride ​his ​ train). Building and painting model planes and ships was his favorite hobby.

He is survived by daughters, Nancy Lee Hissom, and her husband, Michael, Judy Lee Bass, and her husband, Richard: grandchildren, Amy Bass, Bronson Hissom, Brandon Bass (Kelly) and Madison Hissom (Kaitlyn); great-granddaughters, Leigh McCall Bass, Eden Ruby Bass and Eleanor Louise Moore- Hissom. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings Alton Lee, Franklin Lee, Vivian Ridgeway and Jeanette Clemmons.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
