
WILMINGTON — William Herbert “Bill” Vlearbone Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Barbara, Monday, May 7, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Born July 11, 1932, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He was a lover of life and enjoyed spending time with his family and assisting anyone in need. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and repairing machines. Bill was a “jack of all trades” and freely shared his knowledge with his son and grandson.
Bill was a parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church in Wilmington and served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
As a member of the U.S. Army, Bill traveled throughout the United States during his service.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Ethel Vlearbone; siblings, James and Mary, and twin brother, “Bud.”
Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, William Jr., (Wanda); daughters, Patricia (Athan Skroumbelos) of Ewing, New Jersey; Marie Raynor (Jimmy, dec.); grandson, Philip Reynolds; granddaughters, Haley Raynor and Alyssa Raynor; nephew, Scott of Tucson, Arizona; and many special family members and friends.
