WILMINGTON — M. Elodie Heaton, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of the late Frederick Hubble Colley and Margaret Wagner Colley. Also remembered is her husband, Earl Heaton, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Mrs. Heaton was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was active in numerous church groups and activities. Her love for helping other people was evident as she volunteered at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed traveling and possessed an independent spirit throughout her life. Her family will remember lovingly how overjoyed she was to have witnessed the eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father John McGee OSFS officiating. A private interment will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
