Gerald Louis Miressi Sr., 84, married his wife at a rollerskating rink in Wilmington 62 years ago

Gerald Louis Miressi Sr., 84, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016. He was born December 9, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., to Josephine and Joseph Miressi.

Gerald graduated from Mt. Saint Michael’s Academy. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Gerry was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 38 since 1955. He met and married Josephine Fowler in 1954 in a roller skating rink in Wilmington, where he put on shows and they shared 62 wonderful years together. He lived for God, family, his country and to make people laugh. Gerry was also very involved in scouting, explorer troops and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Joseph Leo Miressi.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; and children, Gerald and Muriel Miressi, Lisa Jo Malinowski, Anne and Christopher Iorillo, Michele Neff and Dina and Jason Dudas. He was the proudest Pop-Pop to nine wonderful grandchildren and eight beautiful great-grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Kamp, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father John McGee officiating.
