Edgar Lee Pope, of Burgaw, died Friday April 4, 2014, at Brunswick Cove Nursing Center. He was 91.
He was born in Columbus County on April 1, 1923, and was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Lela Jane Shipman Pope and wife, Lois Woodcock Pope.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Bonita Benton, of Burgaw, grandchildren, Bobby, Ronnie and Danny Benton; sisters, Isis Fowler and Carolyn Ward, both of Wilmington; and brother, Harry Pope, of Hallsboro.
Mr. Pope will be cremated and his remains will be buried beside his wife at the Woodcock cemetery in Pender County.
