WILMINGTON — A Wilmington student won a national competition held for middle schoolers for her 60-second video on President Herbert Hoover.

Project POTUS is a video contest hosted by the Benjamin Harris Presidential Site annually between Election Day and Presidents Day, wherein a winner is chosen per president. Students are invited to use animation, illustration, live action and other creative formats to explore the history of the U.S. presidents chosen as the short video subject.

Myra Shanker, Wilmington Academy of Arts and Sciences 8th grader, was in competition with submissions from 12 states, marking this year’s competition as having the highest geographic participation in the program’s history. According to organizers, Shanker is an avid history fan and also participated in the National History Day regional competition.

Shanker’s winning video can be viewed here.
