CAROLINA BEACH — According to one New Hanover County beach town, production crews are shutting down a portion of some roadways on Tuesday to accommodate filming an ABC pilot.

“RJ Decker” has been filming in town since fall 2025 and will be in Carolina Beach on Feb. 10, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Motorists should expect delays along North Lake Park Boulevard, between Goldsboro and Winner avenues.

Also closed will be Carolina Beach Avenue North, between Canal Drive and Pelican Lane. Homeowners and renters in the area will be able to access to their destinations.

The following public parking lots will also be closed:

  • Fisherman’s Lot (224 Canal Dr., beside SeaWitch)
  • Harbor Master Lot (309 Carolina Beach Ave. N.)
  • Surfside East/West Lots (236/237 Carolina Beach Ave. N.)

“RJ Decker” is a one-hour drama, set to debut in March, has been filming in Wilmington since November with upward of 10 episodes to launch. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s 1987 novel “Double Whammy,” the show will first air on Tuesday, March 3, at 10 p.m. on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu.

The trailer dropped last month, showing Scott Speedman (“Felicity,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) as RJ Decker, who takes on bizarre cases in South Florida with a bevy of people from his past involved. Decker is an ex-con and former disgraced newspaper photographer as he goes on an undercover stake-out and finds a dead body in a trunk of a vehicle.

The ensemble features Adelaide Clemens (“Kangaroo Island”) as Decker’s ex, Bevin Bru (“Will Trent”) as Melody Romero, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department detective married to Deckers’ ex, and Kevin Rankin (“Breaking Bad”) as Aloysius, Decker’s former cellmate.

TW Cast and Recruit is handling extras and background actor casting for the show, posting available roles here.
