
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — The Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover has awarded a total of $71,000 to seven arts and culture nonprofit organizations, marking the largest grant pool in WIN’s history.
The seven grantees include:
- Brooklyn Arts Music Academy: $23,362 for Music Is Life! which provides free weekly music
education to children ages 3 to 5 years - DC Virgo Preparatory Academy: $8,000 for Teaching Artistic Behavior that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through art education
- Delta Foundation of the Cape Fear: $10,000 for A Celebration of African American Arts and
Culture, performed during the Azalea Festival 2026, which features dramatic arts, poetry, jazz, spirituals, and gospel music - Historic Wilmington Foundation: $4,827 for wireless whisper headsets for Tar Heels Go Walking history tours for third graders
- Theatre for All: $7,000 for its fall 2025 performance, featuring an original play produced and performed by individuals with disabilities and members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing
community - UpTilt Film Festival: $9,000 for Housing Filmmakers Project which will provide free housing to visiting filmmakers who attend the UpTilt Film Fest
- Working Films: $8,811 for Story Leads NHC, a program using film to inform and mobilize
residents during screenings and discussions with local leaders
WIN is a collective giving circle of more than 115 women who pool their funds each year to provide grants to New Hanover County nonprofits. Since its inception in 2011, WIN has awarded $670,000 in grants to 44 nonprofits. Areas of giving rotate each year between environment, arts and culture, education, and health and wellness. For 2026, WIN will focus on grants to education nonprofits.
