NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Cape Fear representative Congressman David Rouzer announced Tuesday New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon will be joining him for President Donald Trump’s Joint Address Tuesday night.
“It’s my privilege to welcome Sheriff McMahon to the Joint Session for the State of the Union Address tonight,” Rouzer wrote in a press release. “I have known and worked with the Sheriff for a number of years. National security and public safety is the number one responsibility of government at all levels, and I appreciate the Sheriff’s commitment to ensuring the safety of our citizens and communities.”
Though a Democrat, McMahon called the invitation a great honor.
“Politics aside, my number one priority is keeping the people of New Hanover County safe,” McMahon said in a press release. “I am happy to see President Trump and Congress addressing issues to keep America safe.”
