CASTLE HAYNE — Cynthia “Jill” Kay Skiles Mantych of Castle Hayne, NC passed away Wednesday February 26, 2025 at her home.
She was born in Charleston, WV on September 14, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her Parents: Fred & Miriam Skiles, and husband, Eugene Herbert “Herbie” and a child. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Jill retired from the State of North Carolina after 28 years. She started her career with the State in Motor Fleet Management and later moved to the Indian Affairs Division.
She was known for her love of Christmas and all things whimsical. She would decorate as many as 5 trees for Christmas and always started in October.
She was very close to her Niece, Shirley Steele (James), Great Nieces, Jessica Schloesser (Matt), Sarah Horne and Great Nephew, James “Ben” Steele, II. After the death of her husband, Herbie, Jill moved to the Wilmington area so she could spend time with her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her Nephew Gary Frampton (Vicki) from East Bank, WV who would visit Jill often.
Surviving: Jill is survived by her six sisters and one brother and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
