SOUTHEASTERN, N.C. — A voluntary recall has been issued for Alka-Seltzer Plus products in stores across the country.

Friday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the recall of the Bayer product, announcing the ingredients listed on the packaging may differ from ingredients in the actual product.

The product was sold in Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Dillons Food Stores, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Ralphs, King Soopers and Smith’s Food and Drug after Feb. 9, 2018.

Ingredients in Alka-Seltzer Plus may cause an anaphylactic reaction in consumers with allergies to an ingredient they may otherwise avoid. The release states that while no adverse health results have been recorded to date, the mismatch in ingredients could cause serious health consequences.

If consumers purchased Alka-Seltzer Plus after Feb. 9, stop using the product and contact Bayer for questions, complaints and instructions on receiving a refund.

For consumers that had adverse reactions to the recalled product, visit the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online.
