Property appeal workshops, extended tax office hours open for Pender County residents

PENDER COUNTY — After Pender County underwent a revaluation in 2026 that more than doubled property values for many residents, its tax department has announced various workshops to help people with their appeals or exemption applications.

The deadline to file exemption applications is June 1 and an appeal is due June 30. Anyone filing an appeal should bring their supporting documents or if an exemption their proof of 2025 income.

The workshops are scheduled to take place:

Friday, May 22, 2 p.m.
Penderlea Gym, 231 W.H. Robbins Road

Tuesday, May 26, 2 p.m.
Atkinson Town Library, 207 N. Town Hall Ave. Atkinson

In addition to the two workshops, residents may also visit the Pender County Tax Office in Burgaw for assistance. It’s located at 300 E. Fremont St., open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, though hours are extended Tuesdays through Thursdays until 8 p.m.

The office also will open three upcoming Saturdays, May 30, June 13 and June 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The revaluation hotline can be accessed by calling 910-259-0200 or emailing [email protected].
