WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Police Department is scheduled for an assessment on June 30, 2026 as part of a program to achieve law enforcement accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation program, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards, which focus on policy and procedures, administration, support services, instructional techniques, facilities management, safety, records integrity, and a host of other issues that promote the professional delivery of services within the public safety industry.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by email or mail to be received by June 29, 2026; comments should address Wilmington Police Department’s ability to comply with NCLEA’s standards.
A list of the standards is available to the public on the North Carolina Department of Justice website.
