WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — The state transportation agency will conduct testing on a bridge deck of one of the structures up for replacement in Wrightsville Beach. It could impact traffic as intermittent lane closures are to be expected for the next three weeks.

N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct the closures on a portion of U.S. 74 over Banks Channel beginning Tuesday, April 28. Contract crews will perform drilling operations through the bridge deck as part of the Wrightsville Beach bridge replacement project. The intermittent lane closures will take place on the Salisbury Street bridge located between Lookout Harbor and Lagoon Drive.

Travelers should expect crews to work from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with active flagging operations directing traffic. Pedestrians will be detoured to the northside of the bridge. Drivers should use caution when crossing the bridge and allow extra travel time.
