
WILMINGTON — A 51-year-old received a multi-million-dollar bond after allegedly striking a minor last week in a hit-and-run.
Theodore Gause faces felony hit-and-run, felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while impaired, and other offenses, such as expired registration and driving with revoked license. Judge Sandra Alice Ray ordered a $31 million bond in court Monday, due to multiple previous offenses, with the recent one resulting in a 9-year-old’s leg being severed.
Gause allegedly struck the child while driving under the influence after crossing the center line in the 600 block of South 15th Street on April 18. He tested positive for benzodiazepines, cocaine and opiates and has faced three other hit-and-run incidents, not to mention other infractions.
Court documents show Gause’s parole ended on March 6, 2026, as he was released in prison last May and is noted a habitual felon.
“Defendant has extensive criminal history, assaultive in nature. He does have stable residency but is unemployed,” arrest warrants indicate.
He was assigned a public defender is scheduled for court again on May 7 at noon.
