The Endowment opens community grants applications

The New Hanover Community Endowment hosts their semiannual public meeting at CFCC’s Union Station on December 10, 2025.

WILMINGTON — After announcing an increase in funding for its community grants program, 2026 applications are now open for spring from The Endowment.

With two cycles planned — the second coming in fall — awards will total $5,000 to $15,000 — with up to $500,000 given out each competitive cycle. Applications for spring are open through Feb. 6.

Community nonprofits, public charities, public agencies and governments, as well as universities and higher ed institutions, can apply for a program to benefit the community in one of The Endowment’s pillars: social and health equity, education, community safety, and community development.

The Endowment is also offering office and virtual hours to help support applicants as need be. Office hours are held Mondays, 11 a.m. to noon p.m., and Fridays, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There is guidance offered online as well and tips available here.

The fall cycle will open July 13, 2026, through Aug. 14 for grants as well. Upon both cycles being complete, The Endowment will have awarded $1 million in the community grants program.
