Around 100 customers will be impacted by Cape Fear Public Utility Authority crews replacing broken valves on the water distribution system.

The advisory to be in effect on portions of South Lumina Avenue and Waynick Boulevard beginning Dec. 11, 9 a.m. Anyone located at the following addresses will be affected:

  • 108 to 225 S. Lumina Ave.
  • 202 to 231 Waynick Blvd.

There could be periods of low or no pressure and an increased potential for back siphonage that could introduce of bacteria into the water system.

Customers should boil water for 1 minute before brushing teeth, drinking, making ice, preparing food, washing vegetables, making baby formula and the like. It’s not necessary to boil water for bathing or showering.

Before the advisory is lifted, CFPUA lab staff will test the water to ensure its safety for consumption.
